Do you have a father a brother a male lover perhaps you have male friends or one day your son may be a male If you can answer yes to any of these questions then you are most likely a feminist Because feminism is the men’s liberation movement, run by women There are some women out there who only see men as work horses, here for their breadwinning needs. Some women look at them and see their rippling muscles, their affinity for cars, and home improvement. Feminism wants to break down those stereotypes that prevent you from living an uninhibited life. We want to make your life less confusing and we answer the tough questions like Who opens the door? Who ever gets there 1st! Who does the cooking? Who ever cooks the best! Who pays the bills?? Whoever makes the most money! Can you imagine the men in your life being forced to live up to hypermasculinity stereotypes? Did you know that because of oppressive gender roles men can be shamed or afraid of doing things that are considered “feminine”? Examples include but are not limited to Not using chapstick because guys don’t wear makeup Not eating bananas outside of your home for fear of alluding to fellatio Not being able to compliment your male friends NO HOMO Afraid to buy tampons because the cashier might think you're using them Not being able to admit you were raped because that shit’s for girls. Could you imagine… That I'm pressured to undress her & I’m suppose to impress her by showing the texture of my erection Look, I'm teased about being a one minute man Honestly, I'm just trying to hold hands Could you imagine… That I could ever be uncomfortable in my own skin That my shoulders aren’t broad enough to carry the burden of manhood Could you imagine That rape jokes about men are so much funnier We make comedy of priests and altar boys, soap in prison showers But trauma by any other name tastes just as broken. My friend, Andrew’s decade of molestation is no joke I’m not laughing When his step brother became the monster in his bed Andrew had to grow up feeling monster in the mirror When he finally had the power to tell someone To take him to court To write his statement His step brother was only placed on probation. The Iowa court system decided that boys can take it and always want to take it. Would you believe There are men still dealing with the trauma of boyhood Who deny themselves help in efforts to hold onto their manhood The stronger the man the harder it is to accept Rape never fits quite right being pulled over five o'clock shadow and broad shoulders Call it “being a man”, “fulfilling a duty to your lady”, as if the only thing you’re good for is sex, Isn’t that what we say about girls? Sounds familiar doesn’t it? Could you imagine a world where we find ourselves as equal where men don’t hate their bodies and women don’t either where men’s rape is considered just as important as women’s Where men aren’t pressured to have sex nor pressuring others this is exactly what feminism is meant to fix We dont need men to make this a movement but men might need this movement to make themselves human This is for our fathers Our brothers Our sons I know plenty of boys who need feminism
