For 30 years the .38 S&W was pretty much THE .38. Used primarily in compact pistols for self-defense it was used by most US and many European manufacturers as the go-to for concealed-carry revolvers along with .32 S&W. Other companies tended to simply rename it for their own guns; .38 H&R, .38 Merwin and Hulbert etc. but they were really all the same cartridge. This video came out surprisingly long, but 90 years gives a lot of territory to cover. That an well, I talk too much. I'm fairly sure no one actually reads these descriptions.
