This video shows you how to change the cabin filters (or pollen filters) in a Tesla Model Y or a Tesla Model 3 and then how to update your digital service history when done. Tesla recommends the cabin filters are changed every two years. However, the majority of Model Y's have the huge two stage HEPA filter under the bonnet and all incoming cabin air passes through that first. So the internal cabin filters aren't really too much as the incoming air is already filtered and it's only offering a third level of filtration. It's only when the climate is on recirculate, that the internal cabin filters are filtering air that hasn't already gone through the under bonnet HEPA filter. This is different on the Model 3 as these do not have the HEPA filter, so these cabin filters are doing all the air filtration. So after changing my 2 year old cabin filters in my Model Y and finding they're still like new, I think the two year recommendation is too soon on a Model Y. That would be different for the Model 3 and other cars without the HEPA filter and I would certainly replace these every two years and would be using very good quality PM 2.5 filters. The vehicle in this video is a 2024 Tesla Model Y RWD (MCU3/Ryzen/HW3) with the 62.5kWh (60,5 kWh usable) LFP battery and at the time of filming this running on software version 2025.44.25.3.
