I just finished knitting my first tea cozy! I'm absolutely in love with it. I used Patons worsted Classic Wool for the house and roof, Lion Brand Wool-Ease for the door, and DMC tapestry wool for the flowers, windows and door knob. I made a few changes to the door and windows from the pattern. I used a tighter gauge for both (about 5 sts/inch in st st), and knitted about eight more rows on the door than the pattern called for. I also decreased one stitch on both ends of the last two rows to give it a rounded top, and then worked a row of single crochet in the roof color along the sides and top of the door to frame it. I cast on only nine stitches for the windows, worked one row reverse st st in blue, eight rows st st in yellow, and one row st st in blue before binding off. Then I decided to give the window 12 panes instead of four, for a more whimsical vintage cottage look. And what cottage would be complete without flowers adorning its lawn? I'm so glad that I came across this free vintage inspired tea cozy pattern, and I'm equally glad that the little changes I made took it to a new level, and made it even closer the real vintage cozies that I love so much!
