Dr. Alberto Bellone performed an intrastromal ring implant operation for keratoconus under topical anesthesia on July 1st of 2021 at the Blue Eye Clinic in Milan. He used the Bausch & Lomb Femto laser to create the tunnel. In the operating room with a Zeiss microscope with integrated OCT, he implanted the asymmetrical Keraring ring of 6 mm in diameter, 160° arc, 150/250-micron thickness for the duck-type keratoconus. At the end of the surgery, it was possible to verify the correct insertion of the ring, the perfect depth, and the correct direction of the implant (not upside down). In the video, the tunnel built at a depth of 80% of the corneal thickness, and the relationship that the ring assumes with the tunnel can be appreciated very well. In particular, the tunnel that has just been completed and not yet collaborated with has a space that will become nonexistent in the following days.
