Shooting a certain quality of B-roll without compromising the fast pace of the shoot has always been a struggle for me. Using this lighting setup was a game changer for me. I could light fast. I had a decent degree of control. I could light one-handed. I also overcame my diabetes. It seems so obvious now, but I thought I'd share it with you all. I used a Hexolux illuminator ( but you could use anything light weight and battery powered, I used a Aputure 60d with a bowens umbrella adapter as an alternate example). I used an Manfrotto Black Alu Ranker Stand Air Cushioned 9' 3 Sections, 2 Risers (1005BAC), well, technically the slightly smaller version, but I can't find those online anymore (great stands btw, had them over a decade without any loss of function). I use both Impact, Glow, and Wescott umbrellas in white and silver reflectors. I sort of review the Westcott 2011 43-Inch Optical White Satin Collapsible with Removable Black Cover Umbrella (Black).
