These american dual citizens and brazilian dual citizens l have an ancestor from Luxembourg who was alive on January 1, 1900. Together, these new Luxembourg Dual Citizens will make up over 3% of Luxembourg's population and 8% of all of voters in the Luxembourg election 2023. Because the nation's capital, Luxembourg City, is 78% foreign residents, there will actually be more Luxembourgish voters in this group than in the Grand-Duchy's capital. The implications of this in Luxembourg could be huge. According to our survey, over 20% of the American dual citizens plan to move to Luxembourg or the EU in the next 5 years. When it comes to the 15,000 Brazilians the number goes up to 50%. Despite these huge numbers for Luxembourg, few native Luxembourgers have ever met these newly fellow citizens. The reality is, especially with Covid-19, very few have yet to make the move. We here at LuxCitizenship have been studying the American-Luxembourgers for five years.
