German co-driver Timo Gottschalk has won the Dakar Rally twice. First in 2011, alongside Nasser Al-Attiyah, and more recently in 2025, with Saudi Arabian driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi. Of his 17 starts at the event, Gottschalk has only two wins to show for them. As he says though, winning the Dakar isn’t easy, and requires luck.
