2024 Chevrolet Tahoe Safety and Crash Test

The Chevrolet Tahoe, a popular large sport utility vehicle, has recently been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, revealing some concerning results. While the Tahoe is designed to be a robust people hauler and tow boats and campers, its safety performance, particularly in crash tests, shows significant room for improvement. In the small overlap front crash test, the Tahoe received an acceptable rating. The vehicle managed to maintain adequate survival space for the driver, and the airbags and restraints functioned effectively. However, there was considerable intrusion into the footwell area, resulting in a substantial risk of lower leg injuries for the driver. The performance was worse in the passenger-side test, where extensive intrusion into the footwell contributed to a high risk of injury to the right foot and a moderate risk to the left leg of the passenger. Despite earning good ratings in the original moderate overlap front evaluation, which only considers the protection provided in the front seat, the Tahoe did not fare well when factoring in restraint performance and injury risk for a second-row passenger. Measurements taken from the rear dummy indicated a high risk of head, neck, and chest injuries due to high seat belt forces. Additionally, the second-row lap belt in the Tahoe slid onto the rear dummy’s abdomen, increasing the risk of abdominal injuries. In the pedestrian crash avoidance evaluation, the Tahoe received a marginal rating. While its standard system effectively avoided hitting the pedestrian dummy or significantly mitigated the force of impact during daylight tests, it performed poorly at night. The vehicle reduced its speed by only 3 miles per hour in scenarios simulating an adult crossing the road at night, highlighting the need for better headlight performance. The Tahoe’s headlights received a poor rating, failing to illuminate the road adequately on curves and generating excessive glare for oncoming drivers. These shortcomings underscore the importance of continued improvements in vehicle safety standards, especially for larger vehicles like the Chevrolet Tahoe, to better protect both passengers and pedestrians. #ChevroletTahoe #VehicleSafety #CrashTestResults Get More Great Car Videos - Subscribe: https://goo.gl/BSIaFc
