EP03 Kutch Trip (Day 1) | Bhuj | Bhujia Hill, New Swami Narayan Temple & Street Food | Part 3 | 4K

We took autorickshaw from Sharad Baug Palace to Bhujia Hill & reached there @ 5:19 PM Bhujia Hill :- Bhujia Hill or Bhujiyo Dungar is a hill located in the outskirts of the town of Bhuj in the district of Kutch, Gujarat, India. The hill is 160 metre high at one end. The Bhujia Fort built on the hill overlooks the town. According to the legend, Kutch was ruled by the Nāga chieftains in past. Sagai, a queen of Sheshapattana, allied with Bheria Kumar and rose up against Bhujanga, the last chieftain of Naga. After the battle, Bheria was defeated and Sagai committed sati. The hill where he lived later came to known as Bhujia Hill in Kutch and the town at the foothill as Bhuj. Bhujang was later worshiped by the people as snake god, Bhujanga, and a temple was constructed in his reverence. At one corner of the fort is a small square tower dedicated to 'Bhujang Nag' (snake god), who in folklore is said to have been the brother of 'Sheshnag' - Lord of the nether world ('Patal'). It is said He came from Than of Kathiawar and freed Kachchh from the oppression of demons known as 'daityas' and 'rakshasas'. The Snake Temple was also built at the time of the fortification of the hill during Deshalji I's reign (1718–1740). In a battle that was won with help of Naga Sadhus, who worship the Snake god, by Deshalji, the ruler of Kutch, also built a Chhatri over the temple in 1723. To commemorate this event, ever since, an annual fair is held on the fort-hill on the Nag Panchami day in Shraavana month in the Hindu calendar. Moreover, Smritivan, a memorial park and museum dedicated to victims of the 2001 Gujarat earthquake was built atop the hill. Total 13,805 trees dedicated to each victim were planted in the garden and 108 small water reservoirs were created on the hill. After visiting Bhujia Hill, we again took auto to reach New Swami Narayan Temple. New Swami Narayan Temple/Mandir :- The earthquake on 26 January 2001 destroyed old Swami Narayan Temple. To replace this, the new temple is built of only marble and gold. The throne for the idol of Swaminarayan, the temple domes and doors are make of gold while the pillars and ceilings are made of marble. The original central deity images of Nar Narayan and Swaminarayan in the form of Hari Krishna were moved from the old temple to the new one along with those of Radha Krishna, Swaminarayan in the form of Ghanshyam and Sukh Shaiya and others. The new temple was built at a cost of 1 billion Indian rupees (100 crore) on 5 acres of land. Made in marble, intricate carvings adorn the pillars and ceiling of the most expensive temple built in the Indian state of Gujarat recently. Local Street Food :- It was almost dinner time, but we want to eat something light yet tasty. So, we decided to eat some local street foods. We went to that street food vendor where so many people were waiting for their order. He was running as "Jay Jalaram Sevwala/Bhelwala" in front of Kutch Museum. If you ever travel & visit Bhuj, try his suki bhel once. I highly recommended it. After that, we both have our own favorite shake i.e. Chocolate shake for me & Almond Shake for mom. With this, our day 1 in Bhuj City come to end. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Contents of this video ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 00:00 – Intro 00:16 – Bhujia Hill 00:53 – Started Climbing Bhujia Hill 02:01 – Dangerous Stairs on Bhujia Hill 03:27 – Reach at Top of Bhujia Hill 05:19 – Mom’s Experience of Bhujia Hill 07:17 – New Swami Narayan Temple 08:26 – Local Street Food 09:08 – Full Recipe of street food 12:36 – Chocolate, strawberry & Pineapple favours 13:50 – Never Miss the Closure!!
