Torre Suda è una marina del comune di Racale, nelle vicinanze di Gallipoli e a 50 km da Lecce. Il nome di questa località deriva dall’omonima torre costiera a forma circolare presente nella zona, alta 13,5 metri e risalente al XVI secolo, facente parte della grande linea difensiva di torri voluta in quel periodo contro le scorribande dei turchi. La torre, una volta che il pericolo turco cessò, fu utilizzata dai locali come cisterna d’acqua e le grandi infiltrazioni che ne seguirono davano al suo esterno l’aspetto di una torre che “sudasse” acqua ed è a questa seconda fase che risale l’origine del nome. La costa, formata prevalentemente da scogli, è particolarmente adatta ad effettuare immersioni e snorkeling, grazie ad una grande varietà di fauna e flora sottomarina in piccole baie naturali. Anche la pesca con canne è molto praticata visto la densità di pesce presente che consente spesso di far abboccare all’amo.
