The Kingdom of the Cults by Walter Ralston Martin is a great book and resource but there is controversy over Martin leaving out three well known religious groups that many Christians believe fall into the category of a cult rather than Biblical Christianity. We explore the definition of a cult given in the book and how these three unique but popular religions stray from Biblical truth and act very cult-like and fit the definition Walter Martin gave in many ways. I first read The Kingdom of the Cults in 1985 in my private Christian Junior High School as part of an assignment. I still own a copy of it as an audio book in my Audible account. It is a great resource to learn about the history of many false religions of the world like Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam, but also to learn about the cults like Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses and many others that claim to be part of Christianity or that claim unique and superior theology compared to all other Christians. Walter Martin explains in his book the key figures behind each cult and their unique claims and doctrines of these cults and compares them to the truth of God's Word.
