Tidal Wave Cubensis were created by crossing a monokaryotic culture of both Penis Envy and B+, two fairly common strains. What does crossing strains entail, or even mean? Crossing strains involves mixing the DNA of two different cultures. The process involves first isolating a monokaryotic culture of a strain. Monokaryotic means only one set of gene’s are present, and thus are not capable of reproduction, as in they cannot form mushrooms. This monokaryotic culture is then introduced to the other species, either through spores or another monokaryotic culture. These two form dikaryotic mycelium, which are capable of growing mushrooms. This does not produce a stable new species, and must be repeated to form stable genetics. Tidal Wave, being a cross of Penis envy and B+, exhibits morphology of both. Tidal Wave Cubensis get the top of their cap’s shape and colour from its B+ parent. There is a noticeable difference in the size of stem in proportion to its cap, with Tidal Wave taking after Penis Envy. Further, mature caps of B+ will tend to roll outwards and flare their gills, while Tidal Wave’s cap margin stays inward, similar to Penis Envy. The gills of Tidal Wave mushrooms are small and tightly packed, close to that of Penis Envy. The mycelium is fairly normal looking for Cubensis. Compared to Albino Penis Envies which grow noticeably thick mycelium. Similarly, we see this on the inoculated grain. Dried Tidal Waves are very aesthetic, and are fairly firm. They have white stems, with elegant dark gold caps firmly attached to their tops. The potency of dried Tidal Wave (our isolate at least) is somewhat higher than usual Cubensis, but not as high as Albino Penis Envies of Melmak Penis Envy. User report Tidal Wave being a powerful strain for fighting depression, and is why we use it in our microdose formulations. This is a good strain for beginners due to its gentler trip and moderate potency.
