The 1st Power Friday of the semester (Feb. 20, 2026) brought together faculty, students, and local partners for an energizing exploration of how collaborative efforts enrich both campus learning and community life. Keynote speaker Dr. Jason Ware, Office of Engagement Fellow, shared his perspective, followed by a panel of individuals doing meaningful work across the region, highlighting innovative partnerships, community outreach, real-world challenges, and shared successes. Jason Ware is also a clinical associate professor in the John Martinson Honors College, where he also serves as director of Engaged Scholar Development and the TREKS Research Generator. Panelists: Dr. Breanya Hogue, Purdue CDF Freedom School, assistant professor of literacy and language Dr. Ricky Price, Broader Impact Fellow, assistant professor of special education Dafne Zanelli, El Rincón Bilingüe, graduate student in language and literacy Dr. Terron Phillips, clinical assistant professor of higher education “For John Purdue, education was the flame that lit the world.” At Purdue’s College of Education, we share our founder’s passion.
