Lecture giving by Wayne May at the Book of Mormon Evidence Conference in Layton, Utah on April 11th, 2019. My first choice to present 3 important topics to support evidence for Book of Mormon in North America would be the following: 1. The fortified cities with their ditches and banks of earth as described in the Book of Alma, exist nowhere else in the Western Hemisphere. These structures are scattered across the landscape from Eastern Missouri to Western New York built by the Hopewell Culture 500BC to 400AD. 2. Pottery has been a lead element in identification of cultural and timeline differences. However, when language usage can be found still present and in use for centuries, common sounds and even spelling can be the same and give a trail for continual presence from ancient to historic. Language similarities cannot be duplicated which connect people over centuries of living history. 3. What did Joseph Smith, Jr. actually leave for us to read and ponder on Book of Mormon Geography and Archaeology? There is an enormous amount of information that has been passed over that supports North America as the Promise Land discussed in the Book of Mormon. Most of that information is presented here.
