So, I finally got a response from Distrokid after sending them an email in February. They confirmed that Hip Hop and EDM artists are all automatically ineligible to participate in Youtube Money. Youtube Money allows you to get paid when anyone uses your song in one of their videos. So if you have a song that hits it big and goes viral, and everyone is using your song in their videos, you will not be able to collect any money from their plays. So keep this in mind as you make your decision on selecting a digital distributor to help with releasing your music.
