This is the final review video to come before I move house. This is a review of the Roco CC 72000 Diesel Locomotive which is a brand new HO scale model to come out from Roco. This model is 72048 in the original SNCF colours as delivered in 1968 (or is it 1976?) and this is my favourite livery on this model although I do plan to get a "Fret" and the "En Voyage" version which the latter is based on the 72100 versions that were repowered with the Pielstick V16 SEMT units. 72048 shown in the video would have been powered by a GEC Alsthom MGO V16 power unit and these locomotives were built in Belfort in France and have a top speed of 100mph (160kph) as these locomotives displaced steam locomotive from passenger express trains as well as freight trains which gave passenger trains a faster service. Sadly a lot of these locomotives were withdrawn in 2009 and were replaced with Railcars on passenger duties and also were displaced with the newer BB75000 "Prima" Diesel Locomotives around late 2009/early 2010. Although the refurbished CC72100 Diesel Locomotives are still in use today (at the time of writing) on passenger trains from Paris to Strasbourg, a few examples are preserved with examples like 72013, 72064 and 72084. I hope that Roco will consider making 72084 in the future as this one is another favourite of mine. The Roco model is DCC ready as there is a 16-pin and a 21/22 pin socket on the PCB, so you can install one or the other. Also the model has cab lights and control of the centre headlight under DCC mode, so a 4 function decoder may be useful here. These models are also available with DCC sound onboard which I am planning to get one of those at some point later in the year as well. Overall Rating: 10/10.
