When we hear the word pulpit, we immediately think of a preacher behind a podium, delivering a sermon on Sunday. But what if I told you that a pulpit isn’t just a place; it’s a position, a platform, a stage where God has placed you to influence others. Manchester City winger, Jeremy Doku, said: “I see football as a ministry. It’s a way I can glorify Jesus through the game.” Doku isn’t just playing for fans, name, fame, or fortune. He is using his platform to point people to Christ. Every goal he scores, every assist he makes, every celebration on the field is a sermon in action. Colossians 3:23–24 reminds us: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters… It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Your platform might not be a football field. It might be a classroom where you teach. It might be your office, the hospital, the bank, your art, your social media, or your home. Wherever God has placed you is your pulpit, and every action can minister if you do it for His glory. Doku doesn’t just play for personal gain; he plays to inspire. When you excel in your craft, people pay attention. And attention is an opportunity; an open door to minister through your life. Your skill, your gift, your talent can become God’s masterpiece. Being on a platform doesn’t always mean you are in the spotlight. Sometimes ministry happens quietly: mentoring a younger teammate, showing kindness to a co-worker, or staying honest when everyone else cuts corners. These small acts are sermons in themselves. God has given each of one of us a platform, some big, some small. Your pulpit might be your workplace, your craft, your classroom, or even your family. The question is: are we using it to glorify God? When we understand this truth, we stop waiting for a “church stage” to serve God. We start seeing every moment as ministry. Hey buddy, let these words kindle your spirit today! Dear God, let the field of my labour become an altar The work of my hands a hymn of praise Teach me to preach without a microphone to speak Your truth through excellence to declare Your name in quiet obedience May my platform never exalt my fame But always elevate Your name
