In today's video, we take a look at Strathclyde Country Park CAMC Campsite. It's part of the Caravan and Motorhome Club network and is located just off junction 5 of the M74, south of Glasgow in Scotland. The location next to the motorway means it's very convenient if you're stopping off on a long journey or using it as a base to travel to the area's many attractions, but it does mean you hear road noise - not something that bothers us but might be an annoyance to others so worth bearing in mind. It's not the sort of site that we'd recommend for a holiday where you spend all your time on site (although it might suit others), but in terms of a base for exploring Glasgow and the wider area, it's ideal. It's quite a large site and the pitches feel slightly exposed but the site staff have done a great job with landscaping so there are lots of nice touches which make it one of the more manicured and attractive sites we've stayed at. There are all the facilities you'd expect from a club site and they were clean. There are 2 facilities blocks but only the main one was open when we stayed - not sure why as the site was pretty busy apart from the tent field. There is a small dog walk on site but if that doesn't satisfy your pooch, there are 1000 acres of country park immediately outside the site gates. We weren't that enamoured with what we saw of the country park; it felt a bit unkempt and there was quite a lot of rubbish, and the theme park seemed a bit strange - more boys racers than actual theme park from what we saw. BUT please note we only had a quick venture into the country park in the evening so we didn't see it all and didn't see it in daylight. We'd also come from quiet, sea-facing campsites with stunning views, so it was a bit of a culture shock and that may have influenced our response. It certainly wasn't anything that would put us off using the campsite as that was nice and clean, well maintained and quiet despite being busy. Campsite: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-si...
