We Waited Two Years to Come Back. Today Was the Day

After two long years, we are finally back to our legendary COB field! The last time we metal detected this field, it absolutely blew our minds. Nearly 50 large copper coins came out of the ground, well over 100 old buttons, and dozens of artifacts dating all the way back to the 1600s, including five hammered silver coins from the mid 1600s, which still feels unreal to even say out loud! Last year we tried to get back in, but the field was planted with corn. The cornstalks were thick and brutal, making it nearly impossible to swing a detector. But this year is different. Soybeans were planted instead, and now the field has been cut completely to the ground, giving us wide open access to hunt once again. With two full years of discing and farming activity, we are hoping that some incredible targets may have shifted just enough to put them back within reach. Even though there is snow covering the ground and the top layer of soil is partially frozen, this is one of those rare windows where you drop everything and go. You do not wait when a field like this opens back up. This place has already proven itself as one of the best fields we have ever hunted, and after years of waiting, today we are finally going back.
