ROLLING THUNDER FEATURES: Two sides - each side is a tank company of only humans fighting the other side - in 80+ player vs player (PvP) battles. Main Battle Tanks. Support elements - Scouts, Air Recon, Anti Tank, Logistics. Immersive chain of command system - work as a united army. Objectives: Each side must Capture & Hold two zones in the enemy's territory. Whoever holds out the longest wins. ACE Core's realistic armour penetration system. Thermal imaging disabled on all vehicles, only scouts have handheld thermal optics. The MBTs and IFVs had an advanced Fire Control System (FCS), stabilizing the turret and calculating lead and range. All vehicles respawn, but with different respawn times according to value. After years of economic crisis in the East, the Kremlin had decided that resources had to be gained elsewhere by force. It was only 2 weeks ago that the Russian forces, as expected, made their first move into Poland. As a reaction, German forces moved into defensive positions on the eastern border. However, the first lines were breached and armored elements of the Russian 201st Motor Rifle Division had managed to made their way into the Nedersaksen province. At Celle, a recently stationed U.S. Army battalion was preparing to support the defence Variables for this battle: REDFOR: Russian Ground Forces, 10x T90A, 3x UAZ MG recon cars, 1x Mi 8 transport helicopter BLUFOR: U.S. Army, 10x M1A1, 3x Hummvee M2 recon cars, 1x UH-60 Blackhawk transport helicopter MAP: Celle (region in Germany). This was the second RT battle after the group Unit19 was discontinued, but the group members all came together - to fight together, to remember the name and to honour the spirit Unit19 stood for: professionalism and fun, together with people from all over the world. Rolling Thunder is an ArmA2 PVP (player vs player) event in which large scale tank battles are simulated. Rolling Thunder is for those who always wanted to participate in such an event, but never found the people to play together with, if not to play such a gametype in a more organized large scale environment. The RT battles are standalone and take place occasionally. For each battle there are new registrations. This means that the battles are easy accessible and less demanding/time consuming for the players compared to the more common PVP community campaigns/series. The Rolling Thunder participants vary from armor gameplay newcomers to professional tank combat simulation gamers all with the aim to have tactical, teamwork orientated, well organized and enjoyable battles.
