I'm 27 and totally checked out of society

So I just turned 27 and I've been thinking about how for the entire last year of life, I've just totally checked out of mainstream society: career chasing, corporate ladder climbing, mainstream entertainment, social media, news, keeping up with the Joneses, and until pretty recently, dating as well. Last year I checked a lot of the things that I've wanted to do off of my bucket list and thus this year, I've felt like I've been living in the shadow of that, but sometimes life needs you to slow down and subtract the things that you’ve outgrown so that the new you can rise in its place. For me, that's involved having a quiet year of exploring new hobbies, reducing the amount of distractions, and simplifying my life by just getting a humble ordinary job and focusing on what matters. It's a weird feeling to have but I've learned a lot this year and look forward to another year of experiencing life.
