If you want totake your building and modding to the absolute extreme, to squeeze out every last drop you possibly can. There's onething that you always need to remember. Thermal path is king! I decided to take it to the next level and try some liquid cooling. I ordered some copper tubing. For the pump on our water-cooled LED system I decided to use a fish tank pump because they're 12 volt DC. I also picked up some vacumme line for the water tubing. I reflow soldered the LED to the copper tubing and then attached the lines and the pump. This system created an excellent thermal path, and the water did a great job cooling the LED to keep the output stable. For testing I hooked up the LED to my bench power supply. I checked the datasheet for our x HP 70 LED this particular emitter is rated at 3,773 at 4800 milliamp. Using our water cooling sytem the LED can be driven to 15 amps for an output of over 7,000 lumens with a very stable output. Now that we know how to double the power of an LED, it's time to build a flashlight. The first thing we're getting for our project is a nice piece of brass tubig and a copper mcpcb. Using these in combination with our vacumme lines and water pump, I created a closed system. Using a Mason Jar for our water resivour we're all set to go.
