thoughts- *disclaimer: these switches were sent over by unikeys to review, they did not review or have any input on the video or its contents. these thoughts are all my own. SPECS / INTRO the keygeek y2 are from the same designer as the y3, MZ studio. the y3 were already one of the deepest switches out there and for the price its hard to beat them. to make it even deeper, keygeek designed a brand new stem mold featuring a 'textured' waffle pole tip. the tip of the pole actually has a waffle like pattern on it haha. the stem tip shape is doing most of the work here, but they also paired it with materials known for the deeper sound signature, they feature- U5+ waffle tip stem (upe blend), pa12 top and bottom housing and your choice of 4 different springs: 22mm 37g , 20mm 45g, 20mm 53g and 18mm 63g. SOUND alright, these are no doubt the deepest switches out there. for those who love that thocky, deep and foamy sound this is for sure the endgame switch loll. I cant imagine it getting any deeper or thockier than these guys. I haven't tried yet on a foamy build but I can only imagine the level of thocks. they are extra deep though and they arent very loud at all, used a keygeek explosion just as a control to emphasize how quiet and deep the rest are in comparison lol. they are definitely pretty muted XD. quieter for sure than the y3 or maple sugars and maybe slightly quieter than the canglan v3. the y3 almost sound harsh in comparison tbh hahah its crazy. there is also a tiny bit of scratch but you really have to listen for it. QUALITY / FEEL the quality on the y2 is great. the lubing is pretty minimal but they still feel super smooth with just a tiny bit of scratch thats barely noticeable while typing. no spring or leaf noise, but there is a bit of ticking from the upe stem. up until this switch none of the newer keygeek switches using upe stems had any ticking, the last ones I can remember that did were the keylins. now, this is just something I notice easily and actively look for, its honestly probably not even noticeable with the y2 if you dont know what to listen for. canglan v3 and other hmx upe switches for example are way worse, they tick on almost every key press and can sound like a bad leaf. all in all its very faint, and nothing to worry about for these. the bottom out though is pretty unique for a long pole switch, its not at all harsh, actually is kind of soft. its not mushy feeling or anything though, its kinda nice actually. this is probably from the combo of the new stem tip and upe.
