this week I had to replace the passenger side axle shaft and intermediate shaft or stub shaft due to the splines being worn out on my 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 trick. I also swapped out some noisy lower ball joints while I was there. Update 4/9/2025 (about 1.5 years and 23,000 miles later). The intermediate shaft, bearings, etc are all doing just fine with no issues at all. Even the wheel bearing hub where I used the impact wrench on the axle nut is doing just fine. I've never had any issue at all doing that on a unitized hub assembly. Obviously on the old fashioned wheel bearing assemblies you can't do that. Anyway the only issue I have had is complete failure of both CV boots on the new axle. Both boots have failed miserably on the Rock Auto axle. This was an APWI part number CH8413 that I gave $66.79 for. Sometimes you do get what you payed for, but don't get that one.
