OviDIY Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... This old archtop guitar is, for many years, in my good friend and bandmate Andrei Peretianu's family. The guitar was his "uncle's in law" who was a jazz guitarist many years ago. I knew the guitar since I was in high school. But it was never playable. As said in the intro, Andrei has decided to revive this beauty and even take it up on stage and in the studio. The guitar is OLD (50s, 60s), the wood is nicely aged. But it has tons of problems, the guitar was dropped and cracked, it was sprayed with automotive laquer, repaired by non-professionals, and so on. Making it stage-ready means transforming it into a premium, high end instrument, which will also involve some rebuilding and lots of work. So, I took the challenge and figured that it will make an awesome video series for you guys and gals. Also, Andrei and I bought some nice expensive parts and materials to work with. So it's gonna be FUN :) This video is Part 3 of the series, in which I am working on the neck. There were so many things that had to be done, so I had to break this episode into 2 videos, in part 3 stopping at completing the new fret board. Part 0: • Broken To Premium - Pt. 0: Short Intro Part 1: • Broken To Premium - Pt. 1: Body Repair Part 2: • Broken To Premium - Pt. 2: Body Refinish -... Part 3: • Broken To Premium - Pt. 3: The Fretboard Part 3 - long, unedited and uncut version available for members only: • Long version - Broken To Premium - Pt. 3 -... In this video: I take the tuners and old fret board off. I reinforce the repair at the heel. I rebuild the neck extension, as it got destroyed when removing the fret board. The fret board was glued with PVA glue.... OMG :) I rout a truss rod channel I narrow the neck, as it was way too wide (you could easely fit 8 strings on that :) ) I fix the headstock inlay (sorry to spoil this ) I build the actual fret board (slotting, radiusing, fretting, binding) I will post each episode when ready, so stay tuned (Subscribe and hit the notification bell). There will also be a long, unedited and uncut version of each episode available for members only. I hope that you like my work and enjoy the video!
