Two medical experts, Michael Baden and Shawn Parcells, conducted a second autopsy on the body of Michael Brown, the Missouri teen shot by police, at the request of Brown’s family, the New York Times reported. According the preliminary private autopsy, Brown was shot at least six times, although only three bullets were recovered from his body. The autopsy revealed he was shot twice in the head and four times in his right arm. One bullet went through his right eye, travelled through his face, exited his jaw, and re-entered via his collarbone. The wound at the very top of Brown’s head indicated that Brown must have had his head bent downward, possibly because he was surrendering or charging toward the officer. Parcells said a bullet graze wound on the teen’s right arm could have also occurred in several ways. He could have been facing the shooter or giving him his back. No gunshot residue was found on Brown’s body, meaning the bullets appear to have been fired from at least one to two feet away, if not further. If gunshot residue is found on Brown’s clothes, however, the assumption about the distance could change. Baden said he has yet to see X-rays showing where the bullets were found, nor has he examining Brown’s clothes. He also did not have access to witness and police statements either. According to Baden, Brown would not have survived the shooting even if he had been immediately rushed to the hospital.
