Hi there, and welcome to ReinardSynth episode number 23! A restoration of a unique and rare synthesiser/Entertainer keyboard: the WERSI Pegasus 3. Again a longer one: I scored a WERSI Pegasus 3 which would not startup and make a loud humming sound. I am not really into the "WERSI sound", but I bought it primarily for the very interesting synthesis method used. I will spend some time in this episode digging into its workings and history. The relevant patent description can be found here: https://patents.google.com/patent/EP0... Although I did not have the schematics, I did manage to repair it using some common sense and experience. Turned out to be a broken inverter, a blown amplifier IC and a self-inflicted damaged LCD. I manage to replace the fluorescent tube with LEDs... but did cause some missing lines on the LCD so I had to replace it completely with a new display. ERROR CORRECTION: Did I mention EL Backlight? Of course it's CCFL tube into a diffusor, not an EL Foil behind the LCD... my bad. New 240x128 pixel LCDs with LED backlighting can be bought at Mouser: https://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/N...
