Jesus chose the form of a servant. Jesus receives the divine name Lord. From eternity past to the cross to ultimate exaltation, this passage shows us both the depth of Christ’s humility and the height of his glory. He did not cling to privilege but emptied himself, humbled himself, and became obedient to death — even death on a cross. And because of that obedience, God exalted him above every name. This message challenges us to adopt the same mindset in our relationships. In a culture driven by self-promotion and personal advantage, the way of Jesus is downward before it is upward.
