With each step, Fariba felt she was drawing closer to the heart of nature. Halfway along the trail, the sound of women’s laughter and chatter suddenly rose from the valley below. She stopped and looked around; it was Zivar, coming toward her with her daughters. Before a single word was exchanged, they embraced each other warmly — an embrace filled with the scent of oak and sunshine. Seeing Zivar’s sunburned face and the spark of joy in her daughters’ eyes, Fariba smiled, and they spent a few moments talking about the past year and the rainfall. Fatemeh, Fariba’s long-time companion, was also with her on this journey. She carefully scanned the ground, searching for the best and healthiest seeds. The two women moved gently among the oak trees, brushing aside leaves and gathering acorns. The rustling of dry leaves beneath their feet blended with the birds’ songs, creating a scene of calm and beauty. In the distance, a thin thread of smoke rose from the nomads’ tents. The nomadic families still use oak flour to bake their traditional bread — a brown, fragrant, and nourishing loaf.
