Hello, this is Seoul Vibe Walk 👋 Today’s walking tour captures the busiest weekend since the opening of the 2025 Cheonggyecheon Winter Festa (Seoul Lantern Festival). After a snowy and rainy day that kept crowds away, December 14th saw an explosion of visitors despite the –2°C cold. The entire Cheonggyecheon area was packed with people, creating one of the most crowded scenes ever recorded during this event. At Cheonggyecheon Square, a reproduction of Korea’s first electric light from 1887 at Gyeongbokgung’s Geoncheonggung was on display. Along the stream, various lantern installations inspired by K-culture, traditional gat-themed lanterns, popular character lanterns, and a giant 15-meter floating art piece called “Seoul Moon” transformed the area into a massive open-air gallery. You can also find recreated scenes of old Cheonggyecheon, including the Seoul streetcar, Korea’s first railway line, and a nostalgic shantytown display, offering a unique blend of history and modern festivity.
