The Checkered Past block on Adult Swim is unfortunately coming to an end, as June 30th (which is a Monday) has King of the Hill scheduled at 5 PM instead of the CN classics. I can’t say I didn’t see this coming like two miles down the road, the signs were obvious. First it was Toonami Rewind and ACME Night getting the axe, then Checkered Past being slashed down to a mere hour, and sticking mostly to just the main core four shows with a curveball like The Cartoon Cartoon Show being shown like half a year. (I don't care what anyone says, the block would've been more successful if it took the concept further and expanded their offerings.) The CN classics featured on the block are now up for grabs for Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and possibly even MeTV Toons, but I doubt they'll be prominently featured other than on Boomerang during graveyard slots. Now that Adult Swim has Family Guy back without any contractual limit or stipulation, there is no need for Checkered Past and they can survive mainly off of the FOX cartoons. It's a guaranteed ratings success and since cable is clearly dying, they are doing this to maximize ratings to soften the blow. Credit to Zac Genie for designing the thumbnail for this video!
