Cancer is a huge problem and each diagnosis is associated with a CT, MRI scan these days. Radiologists may differ in their assessment and not be able to perceive certain key features which potentially could be crucial in providing optimal treatment/care to the patient. Dr. Balaji Ganeshan wants to show how a novel medical imaging algorithm called TexRAD (Texture analysis of radiological images) can extract more information (not perceptible to the naked eye of the radiologists) about the severity/complexity of cancer. Dr. Ganeshan further highlights how TexRAD can assess which cancer patient has a specific abnormal characteristic and which does not. This could assist the radiologist/treating-physician to treat the patient based on their individual risk as no one treatment fits all (personalised/precision medicine) for the best possible outcome. Dr. Balaji Ganeshan is the CEO of TexRAD (Texture analysis of Radiological Images for Medical (Cancer) & holds PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Sussex. He is now the Global Business Development Director at Feedback Medical and is the main scientific advisor. Dr. Ganeshan also holds the position of Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine at University College London.
