Recreation of composer's manuscript in Dorico notation software, with playback by Noteperformer instruments. "Ma chandelle est morte Je n'ai plus de feu. Ouvre-moi la porte Pour l'amour de Dieu!" (A motto written on the first page of Pingoud's manuscript.) This positively eccentric and highly imaginative tone poem was composed by Pingoud in 1916. Also known as "La Mort de Pierrot", it was featured in two concerts under the baton of the composer in 1918 and 1919 in Helsinki. In 1966, the piece was recorded by the Austrian conductor Friedrich Cerha with Helsinki Radio Symphony Orchestra, although this recording is not commercially available. This work was also performed in the Music Centre of Helsinki in 2024. Like most of the composer's early works, it was mostly received with bewilderment by its contemporary critics. The manuscript, already difficult to read due to its large count of instruments is nigh incomprehensible with multiple layers of conductors' annotations and scribbles littering the pages. This audio recording was realized by transcribing the manuscript to Dorico, with playback by NotePerformer.
