Kamikaze Saucers is a rare and unreleased space shooter developed for the Atari 2600 around 1983 by Syncro and programmed by Dan Wolf. In this gameplay showcase, players pilot a uniquely shaped defense ship positioned at the bottom of the screen while waves of enemy flying saucers descend from above. The main objective is to destroy the hostile saucers before they perform kamikaze-style attacks and crash into the player's ship. The game features fast-paced arcade action similar to classic Atari shooters, with multiple enemy ships approaching simultaneously and increasing the challenge. One of the most interesting mechanics is the dual-side ammunition system: meters on the left and right sides of the screen track shots, affecting the firing angle toward the center, creating a strategic shooting style reminiscent of games like Atlantis. Although Kamikaze Saucers was never officially released, prototype versions later surfaced among collectors and retro gaming enthusiasts, making it an intriguing piece of Atari 2600 history and a fascinating look at what could have been another classic shooter on the console. #vaultofpixels #atari #atari2600 #kamikazesaucers Playlist: • Atari -- 2600
