This talk was given by at the Pfizer LT, Dept of Chemistry on 14/10/2025 . Abstract The X-ray Sky is full of compact sources consisting of accreting black holes in the form of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) and large diffuse objects composed of hot gas at tens of millions of degrees collected in the massive gravitational potential wells of clusters of galaxies. The talk shall introduce and explain the operation of these objects and show how they interact in the process of AGN Feedback. The enormous energy release from black holes shapes the way that galaxies and clusters evolve. About the Speaker Our speaker this week is Prof Andrew Fabian FRS - a distinguished astronomer and former president of the Royal Astronomical Society. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society and the Kavli Prize for Astrophysics.
