Team Indiana History: Every year in June, the USA Wrestling National Freestyle Duals take place, bringing together teams from across the United States. Held in Oaks, Pennsylvania, for the 14U division and Herriman, Utah for the 16U division, the event showcases wrestlers competing in Freestyle and Greco-Roman, the two Olympic wrestling styles. Historical data for Indiana teams competing in both the 14U and 16U events is available since 2009. In the 14U event, Team Indiana has placed in the Top 8 three times: 2010, 2014, and 2022, achieving their highest finish with a 3rd place in 2022. Similarly, in the 16U event, Team Indiana has placed in the Top 8 three times: 2013, 2014, and 2021, with their best finish being 4th in 2013. Remarkably, over the years, both Indiana teams have featured a talented group of wrestlers who have gone on to achieve great success at various levels. These wrestlers include NCAA Champions, Qualifiers, and Placers, as well as members of the World Team and even a World Champion. Team Indiana 2024 Preview This year's 16U team boasts a formidable lineup, consisting primarily of Indiana Freestyle state champions, Fargo and US Open All-Americans, nationally ranked wrestlers, and a U15 US PanAm Champion. With such an abundance of talent and experience, the team is expected to make a strong run in the competition. Several wrestlers from the record-setting 2022 14U freestyle team are returning. The team comprises three wrestlers each from Brownsburg Bulldogs, Crown Point Bulldogs, and Avon Orioles; two from Franklin Grizzly Cubs; and one each from Delta Eagles, Evansville Memorial Tigers, New Palestine Dragons, Lawrence North Wildcats, and Heritage Hills Patriots.
