Exiting a two lane roundabout, I catch up to a line of cars following a learner driver. Suspecting that one of the cars might make a sudden lane change I decide to keep left to give myself some room to maneuver just in case. Unfortunately I get too close to the edge of the road and encounter a bunch of loose gravel/sand/roadcrap at approximately 60-65 km/h. I lose the front wheel and get to taste some asphalt. My right leg got quite mangled (think it got caught under the bike). Later that day my ankle swelled up and could no longer support my weight. In addition to that I got a handful of minor injuries. including some road rash on my lower back. All in all, I feel like I got lucky considering I was only wearing partial protection gear. Two days or so after the crash I was basically functioning again, albeit in pain. My bike got scratches all over the right side, bent brake pedal and smashed mirror. Nothing particularly expensive. I ruined my shoes, my jeans and my riding gloves (that only managed to protect 8/10 fingers). The bike slid into the learner car and left a small mark.
