Robotaxis, New Cars Self-Driving & Model Y Casting Discussion!14 Mar 2025 Giga Texas Update(07:55AM)

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot! Happy Pi Day (3.14.2025) I got here early enough today to get views inside the west side of the factory and the low clouds helped keep the glare off the windows long enough for one pass along the window line! We see the new mezzanine is completed and some areas where the plastic sheeting is pulled aside, and we can see production equipment and even some robotic assemblers have been delivered into these areas. Good to see and I’m curious how this will look once fully completed. I also was able to see many key areas around the site today which you’ll see in the video itself. Timestamps: Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 4:32 Drone flight footage & infographics: 4:53 to 31:07 In the video introduction, I discuss several recent updates and developments related to Cybercab, the upcoming Robotaxi launch in the city of Austin in June, self-driving (supervised in testing) of new vehicles from the factory to the west End-of-Line (EOL) facility and the rear castings with details from Lars Moravy for the new Model Y. Cybercab testing is going on all around the main factory by at least a half-dozen Cybercabs but now without the trailing Model 3’s that were being used for validation testing and data capture. In addition, I was able to visually confirm on my previous flight Cybercabs operating from the multi-level parking garage which is also being used for main Robotaxi testing and operations in the build up to the launch of Robotaxi service in Austin coming up in June, and then later in the year, expand to other markets and states. I also was able to visually confirm new vehicles are autonomously driving themselves from the factory to the west EOL facility as part of a larger effort by Tesla at each of their factories to take advantage of the self-driving capabilities built into every Tesla and also to eliminate the need for drivers, transportation buses and overall, increasing efficiency of operations while improving margins on each vehicle. Finally, I provide a few clips from a recent Munro Live interview with Lars Moravy, Tesla’s V of Vehicle Engineering where they discuss the new Model Y giga castings. This information is pertinent to operations at Giga Texas, not only in reducing cycle times and efficiency, but also freeing up Giga Press capacity for other products that will be announced later this year. I provide some amplifying information and overlays throughout the clips, but recommend you watch the full video on Munro Live. Link is below in the sources section. A few other highlights in the video includes a comprehensive look at the outbound lot where there were many Cybertucks on the north lot and about 50 or so new Model Ys grouped in the middle section. There was also a clamshell truck loading up a few Cybertrucks and Model Y’s, along with other transport trucks, mostly with Model Ys on them. I expect a noticeable bump up in production next week as most of the internal production line items and training is now completed. The W&W glass crews were finishing up the installation of the large glass panes on the east side of the south extension and once this work is completed, they will return to the west side to finish there. One possibly new development is there may be an open drive path through the building on the east side like what we see on the west side, probably connecting between the two access pathways through the factory and near the Boring Tunnel entrance inside.
