World's Most Dangerous Hike - Apparently! Huashan Mountain | Doug Swift Loves Kung Fu

Huashan is only a few hours on the train from Shaolin (well Luoyang) so I took a trip to Huashan to do a hike with my buddy Pete. We worked out we needed two days to do all the trails and see everything. Remember to subscribe http://bit.ly/morekungfuplease Huashan Mountain is in Shaanxi province and is one of the Five great mountains of China. Huashan is the Great Western Mountain and Songshan by Shaolin Temple is the Great Central Mountain. It's 2154 metres high and still has trees at the top. Apart from the fact it's beautiful, I love going to places that are significant in Chinese Martial Arts. Huashan's Kung Fu history dates back to 713AD to a warrior called Cai Mao. 400 years later his descendants are recorded using and teaching HuaQuan. HuaQuan was brought to `Shaolin Temple by Emperor Taizu of Song. It became known as Emperor's Longfist. Some of the forms from HuaQuan are still practiced in the temple today. We didn't see any evidence of Kung Fu when at Huashan and it's not really surprising. The last Chinese Master of HuaQuan was born in Shangdong province and moved to Shanghai in the 1920's. It later merged into Changquan in modern Wushu.
