The move comes as the government says sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are on the rise among young people, and because this year’s exceptional inflation has cut the budgets of France’s poorest, people particularly deeply. As part of government efforts to ensure that young people of all incomes can prevent unwanted pregnancies, girls and, women aged 25 and under can already access free birth control in France.
