Tamul is the most colossal waterfall of the Huasteca Potosina and the largest of San Luis Potosí, in this video we tell you everything you need to know to enjoy it to the maximum, continue reading the description of the video to see more information and the links of places which we recommend you visit. Tamul, the largest waterfall in the Huasteca Potosina: -Its 105 meters make it one of the highest waterfalls in Mexico and undoubtedly the largest in San Luis Potosí. It is located in the municipality of Aquismón, so it is very common for tourists to visit it along with the Swallow’s Basement. Where to stay at Tamul -In Aquismón there are many places to stay, we liked the Vergel Huasteca Hotel, because it is near the Swallow’s Basement and also near to Tamul, we recommend it because it got a large pool where you can spend the afternoon relaxed, its restaurant is also good, but wifi is not great.Either way is a good place to spend the night and visit several places of the Huasteca Potosina. Here is its Facebook Page to make your reservation: *Fun at the Tamul waterfall -Definitely this is the most complete tour of the Huasteca Potosina, the price is $6 USD per person ($ 120 MXN) for that price you will get into a boat called Panga that takes you to the waterfall. -The tour is very complete because in addition to paddling, you have to walk along a path and then return to the boat, the you reach a huge stone where you can contemplate the beautiful waterfall and jump to the river. -Then you take the Panga again and we recommend you to get off it to take advantage of the river’s stream and swim along the Tampaón river to a place that is known as the Water Cave. *The Water Cave in Tamul -The water cave is another of the natural wonders that this site hides, it is a huge spring, which looks like a cathedral by its vaulted ceiling. Its depth is more than 45 meters and its crystalline water has a very pleasant warm temper for swimming. -We recommend it a lot, it is worth visiting and its included on the same tour, you don't have to pay more. *Rio Tampaón’s piers -To visit the waterfall by the river, there are two piers, one in a town called “Tanchachin”, and another in the community of “La Morena”. Both has the same tour price, however "La Morena" is 3 kilometers closer to the waterfall, that makes it easier for the rest of us to reach the waterfall quicker, so we recommend it. “La Morena” also got parking, vs Tanchachin where it is a challenge to find where to leave the car. What to eat in the Tamul waterfall? -The “cecina” (steak) sold in the region of Huasteca Potosina is delicious, juicy and very mild, we recommend you try huasteca enchiladas accompanied by a piece of cecina or a migada like the one we ate at the end of the tour. Be aware that the dishes are served generously in Cecy's restaurant, so do the tour before you eat. Visit the Naranjito to see from another angle the Tamul Waterfall -After the tour, it is highly recommended to enhance your experience and climb up to the village of El Naranjito to hike at the edge of Rio Gallinas and reach the viewpoints that allow you to enjoy the view of Tamul from other angles, it is impressive! Being so close to a waterfall so changes the perspective of things. Keep in mind that there are times when this part is inaccessible due to the amount of water that Rio Gallinas brings. When to visit the Tamul Waterfall -From January to March is a very good time, the water level in the Tampaon River is moderate and allows activities to be done. Likewise, the Gallinas River is accessible and highly recommended for swimming and cooling in some of its natural pools. However in the rainy season you get so much water that it is better not to plan to visit it, it is in those months when you have to be alert to the indications of civil protection to avoid accidents.
