WhatWhy Art x vurt - 오래된 순간 (Ancient Moment) Part 1 이화영(Hwayoung Lee) / 가야금(Gayageum) 호수(Hosoo) / 전자음악(Electronics) VIDEO by PANO 수백 년의 역사를 지닌 전통 악기는 인간의 숨결과 손길이 만든 물리적 진동을 담고 있습니다. 반면 전자음악은 전기 신호와 회로 같은 비유기적 원리로 진동을 만들어냅니다. 전통악기의 미세한 떨림이 전자음의 세밀한 소리와 만나 즉흥적으로 공진할 때, 서로 다른 영역에서 각자의 깊이를 만들어 온 연주자들은 서로의 언어를 확장시키며 새로운 감각을 창조합니다. 프로젝트 앨범 '오래된 순간(Ancient Moment)'은 한국적 현대음악 앙상블 ‘왓와이 아트(WhatWhy Art)’와 서울 언더그라운드 전자음악 단체 ‘벌트(vurt.)’의 첫 번째 협업 작품으로서, 서로 다른 두 세계가 충돌하고 융합하며 문화적 경계와 미학적 위계를 허무는 자유로운 여정의 기록입니다. 파트1 앨범에서는 대금 연주자 유홍 & 전자음악가 운진, 그리고 가야금 연주자 이화영 & 앰비언트 듀오 호수의 경계없는 연주가 펼쳐집니다. 이 녹음은 서울 STUDIO Y에서 즉흥-원테이크 형식으로 진행되었고, 마스터링 엔지니어 Giuseppe Tillieci가 참여하여 음향적인 완성도를 높였습니다. 디지털 음원은 2025년 8월 31일 벌트의 밴드캠프를 통해 발매되며, LP는 9월 말 유럽과 아시아에서 발매됩니다. With centuries of history, traditional instruments carry physical vibrations shaped by human breath and touch. In contrast, electronic music generates vibrations through inorganic principles such as electrical signals and circuits. When the subtle tremors of traditional instruments resonate with the intricate tones of electronic sounds in an improvised dialogue, performers from distinct realms expand each other’s languages, creating a new sensory experience. The project album Ancient Moment marks the first collaboration between the Korean contemporary music ensemble WhatWhy Art and the Seoul underground electronic music collective vurt.. It is a record of a free journey where two different worlds collide and merge, breaking cultural boundaries and dismantling aesthetic hierarchies. In Part 1 of the album, you will hear boundless performances by daegeum player Hong Yoo with electronic musician Unjin, and gayageum player Hwayoung Lee with ambient duo Hosoo. The recording was done in an improvised one-take format at STUDIO Y in Seoul, and Giuseppe Tillieci's mastering enhanced the sonic quality.
