New South Wales Road Trip December 2025

A short 4 day road trip from Brisbane to the Hunter Valley (a bit under 8 hours with a stop in Coffs Harbour). There we visited 3 wineries and enjoyed great wine and scenery. From the Hunter we took the scenic and quiet back road (Putty Road) to Windsor (Western Sydney outskirts) which took 2 hours. Then another 45 mins up to the higher altitude of Katoomba and Blue Mountains where we hiked for 3 hours after spending the night in Katoomba. The air was cooler and the scenery stunning. We drove another 2 hours west, via Bathurst, to Orange, a clean and pleasant city with good food and wine options as well as cool air from its high altitude. We took the inland road back to Brisbane from Orange, which took 12 hours. We went through many small regional towns and the weather got hot again (about 35 degrees).
