The Kenya Forest Service is calling upon all its partners and stakeholders, to embrace the use of bio-degradable bags when planting their seedlings following the plastic ban in the country. Speaking during the 41st graduation at the Kenya Forestry College in Kericho County, KFS director General Emillio Mugo said that the grace period for the extended use of plastic bags for seedlings that was agreed upon between KFS and NEMA upto May next year, is for the seedlings that have already been planted for the next KFS planting season. He insisted that any new seedlings at the moment must be planted on bio-degradable bags. KFS and its stakeholders have over 150 Milion seedlings in plastic bags in different parts of the country. KFS will be extending the forest clean-up exercise which they rolled out at Ngong Forest last month, to their other 10 conservancies across the country.
