Transcript: Cosmetic nasal surgery, the rhinoplasty, I’ve been involved in for 27 years. I do one, two three noses a day. 30% of my practice, I feel, is revision surgery from other doctors. I really enjoy rhinoplasty surgery. I’m not only a cosmetic surgeon, but I’m also board-certified as an ear, nose, and throat doctor so I’m also very sensitive to function as well as a form within a nose so that patients who come in for cosmetic surgery, at the same time they are able to correct breathing difficulties, snoring problems, headaches, allergic rhinitis and any kind of problem relating to the sinuses at the same time they are coming in for cosmetic surgery. And of course, at the time we are doing cosmetic surgery, we are very sensitive to breathing, such that we want a patient to be able to breathe better not worse after nasal surgery. It takes a doctor minimum of 15 years to become good at nasal surgery. It is not the type of surgery that you can take out of the book and go into the operating room. There is no form to it it takes many years to develop it, and it is very important that in choosing a physician you choose the physician with experience. My approach to nasal surgery is one that I’ve developed over the years of my practice. Typically, it takes three to four days for the cast to come off, such as you had surgery on a Thursday, on Tuesday you are back at work, functioning. There is usually minimal or no black and blue and very little swelling. We don’t pack noses anymore, that is a thing of the past, it is very rare. There is usually just a cast or a splint on the top of the nose, which comes off in three or four days. So that is basically how we approach the nose. My glossary is that the patient has a normal-looking, non-surgical, natural look, one that fits their body and profile. I don’t typically do any kind of incisions on the outside, everything is done on the inside of the nose. There are no external scars or telltale signs of any cosmetic surgery.
