February in Virginia can be very unpredictable. One week there’s 8 inches of snow covering the ground then the next brings 65 degree sunshine and blue skies. One thing I know for sure: if you plant the right things in your garden, in warmer years, it can be the very first sign of early spring. In this video, I share the inspiration behind my botanical artwork, "The Splendor of February", created from late winter/early spring flowers that grow in my own garden, here in Virginia. My name is Courtney Hopkins, and I’m the botanical artist and illustrator behind Tiny Pine Art, based in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This artwork is part of my ongoing collection, A Year in the Garden, where I illustrate flora that flourishes and shines in each month of the year. In this February edition, you’ll see: Early spring nature photography of the flowers that inspired the artwork Botanical illustration details inspired by snowdrops, crocus, violas, and hellebores (Lenten Roses) A glimpse of my hand-illustrated botanical calendar Limited-edition February products including hardcover journals, oversized weekender tote bags, aprons, and tabletop placemats. I hope these illustrated goods help bring nature closer to you in your daily life. If this video inspires you, please consider subscribing to follow the collection as it unfolds throughout the year.
