Humbucker pickups, P90 pickups or Mini Humbuckers with vintage style wiring. Replacing the pickups and the wiring harness in a Gibson Les Paul guitar is simple to do with the correct tools and techniques. Tools include a 60 watt Weller WES51 soldering iron, small needle nose pliers, wire cutters, 1/2" nut driver, popsicle stick and tape for labeling. I recommend removing the strings prior to installation and remove any loose bridge hardware. Tape bridge adjustment thumbwheels to avoid turning them out of adjustment. Once strings, hardware and knobs have been removed, careful solder technique with the correct wattage iron and correct tip make replacement easy. Watch the entire video for tips that will make your pickup and wiring replacement reliable and trouble free for years to come. Make sure to watch the ThroBak P.A.F. Pickup Height Adjustment video to fine tune your pickup height after they have been replaced.
