In honor of one whole year since we posted this mashup, and in honor of the Wicked movie premiere, here is "Defying the Distance." Recording and filming this was an absolute blast. Any day where we get to sing with @kaysibal and @sophiajamesmusic is a good day :) As an extra special treat, we recorded a quartet version of our recent original single, "Coming Undone." Both of these versions will be made available on all streaming platforms on 11/22/24! Thank you to everyone who made this project possible: Film/Editing: @makelayepez951 Vocal Editing/Mixing: Anthony Reed Production: @DavidFranciscoMusic Mixing: @brandonunis3939 "DEFYING THE DISTANCE" LYRICS: I have often dreamed of a far off place Where a great warm welcome will be waiting for me Where the crowds will cheer when they see my face And a voice keeps saying this is where I’m meant to be Something has changed within me Something is not the same I’m through with playing by the rules of someone else’s game Too late for second guessing Too late to go back to sleep It’s time to trust my instincts, close my eyes, and leap I will find my way I can go the distance (It’s time to try defying gravity) I’ll be there someday If I can be strong (I think I’ll try defying gravity) I know every mile will be worth my while (And you can’t pull me down) I would go most anywhere to feel like I belong I’m through accepting limits 'cause someone says they’re so Somethings I cannot change, but ‘till I try I’ll never know Too long I’ve been afraid of losing love I guess I’ve lost Well if that’s love it comes at much too high a cost I will find my way I can go the distance (I’d sooner buy defying gravity) I’ll be there someday If I can be strong (Kiss me goodbye, I’m defying gravity) I know every mile will be worth my while (And you can’t pull me down) I would go most anywhere to feel like I belong So if you care to find me Look to the western sky As someone told me lately Everyone deserves a chance to fly I will beat the odds I can go the distance (It’s time to try defying gravity) I will face the world Fearless proud and strong (Kiss me goodbye, I’m defying gravity) I will please the gods I can go the distance (And you won’t bring us down) ‘Til I find my hero’s welcome right where I belong Where I belong "COMING UNDONE" LYRICS: I've been alone for awhile Keeping myself in a state of denial I've been pretending that she's off my mind Oh I'm a liar You've been around for the bad times Keeping me moving, you kept me alive I know you're hoping that I'll make you mine That's not where I am So is it wrong To string you along For the sake of moving on? 'Cause I'm not in love But you're just enough To keep me from coming undone You found me alone drunk on the front lawn You told me that yours was the shoulder to lean on You wanted the leaning to lead to your arms But I wouldn't fall I should have gently turned you away And you should have seen there's no reason to stay But we're not that wise, and we're not that careful Oh not at all So is it wrong To string you along For the sake of moving on? 'Cause I'm not in love But you're just enough To keep me from coming undone You say you're down for whatever But I see the love in your eyes Oh, you say you don't want forever But I hear the lie I hear the lie You say you're down for whatever (Down for whatever) But I see the love in your eyes (I see, yeah I see the love) You say you don't want forever (Don't want forever) But I hear the lie So is it wrong To string you along For the sake of moving on? 'Cause I'm not in love But you're just enough To keep me from coming undone
