Catherine Howard, the fifth wife of King Henry VIII, was a young noblewoman from the powerful Howard family and a cousin of Anne Boleyn. Her early life was marked by a lack of formal education and a series of romantic entanglements that would later haunt her. She married Henry in 1540 at around 17 years old, while the king was nearly 50 and in poor health. Initially adored for her youth and charm, Catherine's past relationships - and later, alleged infidelity during her marriage - led to her arrest for treason. After a swift and scandalous downfall, she was executed at the Tower of London in 1542, aged about 19, remembered as a tragic and ill-fated queen caught in the deadly politics of the Tudor court.
